Dio Siegel '97 churns out "long horn" molecules

After completing a PhD in 2003 at Harvard with Prof. Andrew Myers ("Synthesis of (-)-Tetracycline." J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2005, 127, 8292-8293) and a postdoc from 2003-07 with Prof. Samuel Danishefsky at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center ("Total Synthesis of Garsubellin A." J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2006, 128, 1048-1049), Dio has settled down at the University of Texas-Austin's chemistry department. In just two years he has collected a group of hard-working students where they work on projects spanning development of new reactions, natural product synthesis, and molecular pharmacology.
