Luke Kanies ’96 Receives Entrepreneurship Honor

Yesterday’s Oregonian reported that the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network had selected Luke Kanies ’96 as the winner of its individual Entrepreneurial Achievement Award. The Network announced its selections for the 21st annual Tom Holce Entrepreneurship Awards at its awards banquet on Wednesday night.

Readers of this blog will recall that Luke is the founder and CEO of Puppet Labs, a Portland software startup that provides open-source software for administering large computer networks. Luke moved Puppet Labs to Portland in 2009 with just three employees. Since then the company has experienced tremendous growth: the number of employees is currently hovering around 330, and the company is preparing for a move from its current location in Portland’s Pearl district to a 75,000-square foot space in the recently remodeled Block 300 building. Congratulations Luke!
