Commons Hacks: Round 1

If you’re craving something that’s not on the Commons menu and don’t want to leave campus, or if your board points are stacking up like unread pages, you might want to create something new out of what’s already available at Commons.

Look no further than this How-To Guide for making delicious creations out of Commons food.

Milkshake/Root Beer Float:

This seems pretty obvious, but for some reason not a lot of people do this. Grab yourself some milk (chocolate milk is the best) or root beer and a mini tub of Ben & Jerry’s. Melt the ice cream a little in the microwave, then put it in your chosen drank and stir it up. Voilà! Delicious creation.

If Ben & Jerry's is good enough for Grimes, you know it's going to make an epic milkshake.

If Grimes is repping Ben & Jerry’s, you know it’s going to make an epic milkshake.

Burrito:

Order a quesadilla from the grill. Buy a bowl of beans and rice, and get a separate bowl of your fave burrito toppings from the salad bar. Grab some salsa and sour cream from the gluten free refrigerated section. Once you’ve bought your food, peel apart the quesadilla and nest the tortillas (this is optional, but I find that a tortilla cheese tortilla cheese pattern is best). Put all your toppings inside, fold it up, and get crazy.

Mac & Cheese Bagel:

This one requires some foresight, as bagels are only available at breakfast and pasta isn’t available until dinner. But if you can handle it, buy a bagel in the morning and hold onto it until later. Get some pasta from the pasta bar and COVER IT IN CHEESE. Then flip your pasta bowl over on that bagel and microwave it so the mac & cheese sticks/is melty and delicious.

You can obviously take it up a notch when Commons serves mac & cheese at lunch.

Yum.
