Reedies Dance! (by Amy Lindsay ’81)

Although I was a bio major, one of the most important parts of my Reed experience was dance; it kept me sane and gave me a creative outlet. So I approached other dancing alumni (Lisa Gillette ’79, Brynna Hurwitz ’81, Carla Mann ’81, Brian Graham-Jones ’81) and current and emeritus dance faculty about doing some dance events at Reunions and everyone jumped on board with great ideas. I even started a website where people can see the schedule of reunion dance events, volunteer to participate in a happening, and share stories and images of dance.

Dance will be everywhere at Centennial Reunions! There will be workshops and classes, open-improvisation sessions, showings of works in progress, an ice-cream social, an open house with current and emeritus faculty at Judy Massee’s house, and site-specific happenings choreographed for random locations across campus! Visit http://www.reediesdance.com to see the schedule, volunteer to participate in “a happening,” and to share your stories and images of dance. You can also get a peak at the proposed plans for Reed’s new performing arts building.

See you in June!
