Japanese Stewartia Japanese Stewartia

As the common name would suggest, this tree is native to the mountains of Japan. It has large, white flowers with five frilled petals that are joined at the base. In the middle of each flower is a cluster of bright yellow and orange stamens. The leaves of the Japanese stewartia turn yellow, red, and purple in the fall before they fall off.
