Lab lecture (Vollum) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mondays 6:15 – 7:00 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Labs (Chem 209)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuesdays 1:40 – 5:30 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesdays 1:10 – 5:00 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursdays 12:20 – 4:10 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fridays 1:10 – 5:00 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Labs begin promptly and most lab periods begin with a short (<30 minute) lecture that delivers last-second instructions on procedures, equipment, and safety. Please enter the lab 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start times listed above<\/strong> so that you can store your backpack, change into appropriate clothing (if necessary), put on personal protective gear (lab coats, goggles), get out your notebook and apparatus, and be ready to receive in-lab instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n

Lab Preparation<\/p>\n\t\t\t

Safe, useful lab work is based on proper preparation. Students who are unprepared or late to lab may be asked to skip the lab session for safety concerns. Students who are habitually unprepared or repeatedly late to lab risk lower grades, and even being dismissed from the course<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n

Unsupervised Lab Work<\/p>\n\t\t\t

<\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t

For safety reasons, students may not conduct any type<\/em> of lab work without an instructor’s approval and supervision. No lab work of any type can be performed before the scheduled start times listed above. Likewise, no lab work can be performed after the scheduled end times unless an instructor is present. In addition, no lab work can be performed except for the experiments described in this manual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students who attempt unapproved and\/or unsupervised experiments risk being dismissed from the course<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are interested in doing lab work beyond the experiments described here, talk to your instructor about independent study projects.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
