Your report should use 12 pt font and be double spaced. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Detailed guidelines<\/span> have been provided in the Moodle assignment. Your partner&#8217;s name should be prominently displayed on the front of your report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more general information about the components of a Chem 202 lab report, please review the appendix <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/chemistry201-202-lab-ref-manual\/appendices\/how-to-write-lab-reports\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"6194\">How to write lab reports<\/a><\/strong> for a discussion of how much detail to put in the <strong>Abstract<\/strong>, <strong>Experimental, Results<\/strong> &amp; <span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>Discussion <\/b><\/span>sections. Remember that the <strong>Experimental<\/strong> section not only contains your detailed procedure, it also contains all of the measurements you made on your products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Discussion <\/strong>should include an interpretation of your data, that is, how you know you have what you think you have, but you should not over interpret your data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Abstract <\/strong>and <strong>Results <\/strong>&amp; <strong>Discussion<\/strong> should each be self-contained. The <strong>Abstract<\/strong> should make sense without reference to the rest of the report. The Results and Discussion should work the same way. All parts of the report should make sense to a reader who has no access to, or awareness of, the lab manual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means you will need to include some figures or schemes of your own (remember, you may not electronically copy or scan figures from this manual, or copy or scan figures from other students). You can neatly hand draw figures as well as using chemical drawing software (e.g. Chemdraw).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your <strong>Discussion<\/strong> should describe how your <sup>1<\/sup>H NMR spectra, together with your modeling data, allow you to assign the stereochemistry of your products. You can also consider whether the modeling data helps you interpret the chromatographic behavior of your stereoisomers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reports are due TBD.
