According to a story in today&#8217;s Oregonian, <a title=\"Pollution near Brooklyn rail yard | Oregonian Nov 19, 2013\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/portland\/index.ssf\/2013\/11\/reed_college_and_neighbors_mon.html#cmpid=nwsltrhead\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>&#8220;Pollution near Brooklyn rail yard monitored by Reed College, SE Portland neighbors,&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> that injunction is now being lifted by a mutual agreement between the residents and Union Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>The railroad has promised to modernize its equipment as part of the new agreement. The neighbors, however, plan to keep an eye on air quality with the assistance of <a title=\"Prof. Julie Fry\" href=\"http:\/\/www.reed.edu\/chemistry\/fry\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Prof. Juliane Fry<\/strong><\/a> and her research team. The <strong>Reed College <\/strong>chemists have installed monitoring devices that will measure air quality near the yard.
