{"id":5208,"date":"2018-01-24T13:38:58","date_gmt":"2018-01-24T21:38:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/chemistry_news\/?p=5208"},"modified":"2018-01-24T13:40:03","modified_gmt":"2018-01-24T21:40:03","slug":"chemists-at-the-murdock-college-science-research-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/chemistry_news\/2018\/01\/chemists-at-the-murdock-college-science-research-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Chemists at the Murdock College Science Research Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last November, about the time when serious rain returned to Portland, 10 Reed scientists, 3 faculty + 7 students, made their way across the Cascades to sunny Spokane, Washington for the <a href=\"https:\/\/murdocktrust.org\/enrichment-programs\/enrichment-conferences\/murdock-college-science-research-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Murdock College Science Research Conference<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Reed crew included chemistry professors <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/chemistry_news\/2017\/09\/its-a-dogs-life-in-chemistry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Rebecca LaLonde &#8217;01<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/chemistry_news\/2017\/09\/murdock-charitable-trust-to-support-organometallic-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Miriam Bowring<\/strong><\/a>, as well as biology professor Anna Ritz, and students from different disciplines presenting results from their summer research projects. The students (<strong>Reed chemists in bold<\/strong>) and their presentation titles are listed below. Special congratulations to senior <strong>Joshua Tsang &#8217;18 (2017 Arthur F.
