{"id":3703,"date":"2018-03-01T12:20:50","date_gmt":"2018-03-01T20:20:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/ed-tech\/?page_id=3703"},"modified":"2025-03-25T09:45:39","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T16:45:39","slug":"recording-your-macs-video-screen-with-audio","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/ed-tech\/developing-a-multimedia-project\/production\/recording-your-macs-video-screen-with-audio\/","title":{"rendered":"Recording Your Mac&#8217;s Video Screen with Audio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">This technique can be helpful when needing to record a video of your screen for educational purposes when media is being played back on a browser.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To record your Mac&#8217;s Screen with both audio and video:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Install <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/rogueamoeba.com\/loopback\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">loopback audio<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (free extension).<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Open the media you want to screen capture in your application (if it&#8217;s a browser, use Firefox or Chrome, not Safari). Start at least 5 seconds before where you want to start\u00a0 &#8211; this will usually give time for the application to hide any playback controls which might be distracting. Don\u2019t press play yet.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to System Preferences\/Sound. In the sound Output, change the preference back to Internal Speakers (or whatever was your original choice).
