Learning Outcomes

Because this course is an American studies seminar, its learning outcomes are aligned with American Studies as well as the English department.

  1. Engage with and critically reflect on how Jewish American culture and literature has changed from the colonial era to the present
  2. Feel more comfortable close reading a range of texts and objects.
  3. Formulate and execute a genuinely interdisciplinary study of Jewish American phenomenon, with American broadly understood to include transnational, hemispheric, oceanic, and global approaches to the study of American society and culture
  4. Engage with relevant scholarly literature 
  5. Use digital tools to help you analyze and present your understanding of Jewish American studies
  6. Position yourself as part of a scholarly community and conversation
