Remote Services

Library staff continue to provide services to the Reed community. All Reed faculty, students, and staff are welcome to take advantage of the library’s remote services.

Mail delivery now available

Students, faculty, and staff can request print books or equipment for delivery to a Reed campus mailbox or to another address. Get details on requesting books.

Note that the Summit lending service is still suspended until further notice. Contact your subject librarian for help identifying alternative sources.

Scan requests

The library can scan book chapters and email them to you as a PDF. Get details on requesting scans.

The library cannot scan whole books or multiple chapters due to copyright law.

Library Building and PARC Access

The Hauser Library building is closed until further notice.

Our other library locations are also closed to in-person visits until further notice: PARC (Performing Arts Resource Center), IMC (Instructional Media Center), VRC (Visual Resources Center), and Special Collections and Archives.

Staff from all locations are working remotely and are available to help.

Returning Books and Equipment

June 1st is the due date for all borrowed library materials, including Summit and physical InterLibrary Loan (ILL) materials. Get instructions and more details about returning books and equipment.

If you are returning in the fall and would like to bring back materials then, email to extend the due date.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Current students, faculty, and staff can continue to submit interlibrary loan requests for articles, which will be delivered to you as a PDF.

To make a request, log on to your ILL account with your Reed credentials, select “Article” under “New Request,” and enter your request information. You can also follow ILL request links from many of the library’s databases. If you are using ILL for the first time, you will be prompted to fill out your contact information. If you have any questions about the ILL service, please feel free to contact us at

We are unable to process requests for physical materials (including print books) at this time.
