Where&#8217;s that?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go across the river.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The logistics of making your way downtown (figuring out the buses, navigating traffic, finding parking, etc.) can be a little daunting if you have a stacked to-do list. But, the reprieve of fall break is the perfect time to make a day trip out of venturing over to the west side of town. There&#8217;s the Portland Japanese Gardens, the Waterfront Park, Powell&#8217;s, and a whole new world of places to eat.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2114\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/reedreslife\/files\/2014\/10\/Corn-Maize_maize_OK.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2114\" class=\"wp-image-2114 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/reedreslife\/files\/2014\/10\/Corn-Maize_maize_OK.jpg\" alt=\"Corn-Maize_maize_OK\" width=\"290\" height=\"231\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2114\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Eat local(s)&#8221;, get it?<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Corn MAiZE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Sauvie Island pumpkin patch is hosting a corn maize now through November 1st. There are also pumpkins to pick, hayrides, &#8220;cow train rides&#8221;, a pyramid of hay to climb, and other classic fall activities at Sauvie Island. The event promises pumpkin beers, pumpkin food, and pumpkin games. &#8220;Pumpkin games&#8221; apparently include pumpkin bowling and pumpkin smashing; perfect for blowing off a little steam on the first day of break. The competition begins at 1pm and the grand prize is awarded at 9pm.
