The Sunday before Thanksgiving, the co-ops (Garden House and Farm House) got together to host their annual Thanksgiving hootenanny!<\/p>\n

The co-ops function quite differently than the other living options on campus. Our communities revolve more around food, cooking, and conversation than many other floors, since we cook for each other five nights a week. Every year, when Thanksgiving rolls around, it\u2019s a great opportunity for us to share what we know with the rest of the Reed community.<\/p>\n

The hootenanny started off on Friday, with a shopping trip involving eight people and three cars. Once the bounty arrived, the dessert crew started cooking up some delicious pies, to free up the oven space for the next day. On Sunday morning, there was a small and perennial snafu with our three turkeys not being fully thawed, but by 2:00 they were ready to go into the deep-fryer rigged by our amazing custodian, Rick! In the meantime, green beans, gravy, enchiladas, salads, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce were prepared (with vegan and gluten-free options available!)<\/p>\n

By 7:00, the SU was fully decorated and there was a long line of students eagerly awaiting the free food. We let the student senate run through first, since they had a meeting to get to, and then started serving everyone.<\/p>\n

It ended up being a very fun night, with dancing, good food, and excellent conversation. Of course, the clean-up was the hardest part, but we eventually put the SU, the houses, and ourselves back together to get ready for class on Monday!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
