{"id":2242,"date":"2015-07-22T08:40:42","date_gmt":"2015-07-22T15:40:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/reedreslife\/?p=2242"},"modified":"2015-07-22T08:40:42","modified_gmt":"2015-07-22T15:40:42","slug":"peaceful-oases-on-reed-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/reedreslife\/2015\/07\/22\/peaceful-oases-on-reed-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"Peaceful Oases on Reed Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pretty much the entire Reed campus is gorgeous, and there are tons of pleasant places to\u00a0settle down with the books or friends of your choice. \u00a0However,\u00a0sometimes the go-to places for such activities are too crowded and bustling (commons at lunch, for example, can get quite crazy, and good luck trying to get a picnic table outside when it&#8217;s sunny). \u00a0The following are some lesser-known cozy\/beautiful places around campus where you can retreat when you need to!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/reedreslife\/files\/2015\/07\/IMG_5203-view.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2254\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/reedreslife\/files\/2015\/07\/IMG_5203-view-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_5203 view\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/reedreslife\/files\/2015\/07\/IMG_5203-view-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/reedreslife\/files\/2015\/07\/IMG_5203-view-1024x575.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0The water fountain bench behind Vollum<\/p>\n<p>If you ever get to Hum Lecture early (as unlikely as that may be depending on your sleep schedule), the bench that doubles as a water fountain\u00a0through the back door of the first floor of Vollum is a wonderful spot to review last night&#8217;s reading on a sunny morning.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Upstairs in the student activities office<\/p>\n<p>The Student Activities Office is an all-around great place. \u00a0While most students know that it is home to numerous student resources, free snacks, and Gray Fund lottery sign-ups, the student activities office also has a lesser-known upstairs spot containing a craft room as well as super comfy chairs with a window view of the canyon.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Canyon chess table<\/p>\n<p>A whimsical and picturesque spot in the canyon to enjoy by yourself or with friends over a game of chess. \u00a0I won&#8217;t tell you exactly how to get to this one, explore our lovely canyon to find it :).<\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0Downstairs GCCs Benches\/Amphitheater<\/p>\n<p>For when you just can&#8217;t deal with finding a table in commons at lunch: I offer you an indoor and an outdoor alternative, depending on the season. \u00a0Head downstairs in the GCCs and turn right at the bottom of the stairs. \u00a0You will see windows with bench window seats. \u00a0These are a great spot to sit and look out at the world undisturbed. \u00a0If the day is simply too lovely to stay inside, head out the door at the bottom of the stairs. \u00a0The Amphitheater offers tons of seating and a gorgeous view of the canyon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pretty much the entire Reed campus is gorgeous, and there are tons of pleasant places to\u00a0settle down with the books or friends of your choice. \u00a0However,\u00a0sometimes the go-to places for such activities are too crowded and bustling (commons at lunch,&nbsp;&hellip;
