These interviews will be individual, where the candidate will sit down with a senior HA and a Resident Director (RD) to answer a few questions and ask a few of their own. As ever, I have my two cents to share when it comes to the interview process, but first let&#8217;s revisit the Res Life mission statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Department of Residence Life facilitates a residential experience in which students feel supported in their academic pursuits, personal growth, and participation in an interdependent community.<\/p>\n<p>We envision a vibrant, safe, and inclusive living environment where every student is actively engaged. It is our intention that students develop a sense of pride and investment in Reed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>HA hopefuls have asked what they need to prepare as they approach this interview, and my advice is to keep that mission statement in mind and brainstorm a few things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is your current relationship to this mission statement? Have you already taken part in furthering Res Life&#8217;s goals through other groups on campus?<\/li>\n<li>What does a vibrant, safe, and inclusive living environment look like? Have you been a part of one before? Have you been a part of an environment\u00a0that was\u00a0<em>not\u00a0<\/em>those things?<\/li>\n<li>Think about your relationship with the honor principle at Reed. What does honor look like in a community? How can you encourage peers, friends, or residents to be honorable?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You don&#8217;t have to prepare any statements or have programs designed already.
