{"id":207,"date":"2012-08-30T10:06:18","date_gmt":"2012-08-30T17:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.reed.edu\/seeds\/?p=207"},"modified":"2014-07-02T09:30:33","modified_gmt":"2014-07-02T16:30:33","slug":"pancho-savery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.reed.edu\/seeds\/2012\/08\/30\/pancho-savery\/","title":{"rendered":"Pancho Savery, Professor, English &amp; Humanities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the last eleven years in a row, Savery has taught sections of a course entitled \u201cHumanity in Perspective.\u201d A collaboration between <strong>Oregon Humanities<\/strong> and Reed faculty, \u201cHumanity in Perspective\u201d is a year-long humanities course offered for free to adults who face financial hardship and who do not have a college degree. Savery explains, \u201cThere are students in the class who are 18 and there are others who are 70. Either way, they bring their lives into the classroom.\u201d Texts range from ancient Greek and Roman classics, to the Declaration of Independence, to modern day American literature.
