Alyssa Feigelson
Alyssa Feigelson is a history senior who has recently submitted her application to rabbinical school! She’s a Gemini sun, Virgo rising, Cancer moon vegetarian. She is writing her thesis on Jewish women and the Reform movement in California during the 19th century and is very excited to learn about Jewish communities she hasn’t studied before across the Americas! (painting is by Vittorio Regiannini who drew women in gorgeous dresses making fun of men)
Learning goals:
- To understand how Jewish identity shifts based on diasporic location
- To learn about the Jewish relationship with power in a colonized land (as the colonizers and as an oppressed minority)
- To learn what they deemed important enough to write about and remember for future generations about their lives.
