While perusing the internet for all things Portland, as one is wont to do, I recently came across an adorable little blog called Rainy Day Portland: Things to Do With Your Parents and Guests When It Rains. It’s a problem we all inevitably run into, your guests have arrived and the weather is Not Having It. But your parents didn’t come all the way out here to watch Netflix and wait for you to finish up in the library, so you need to devise a plan b. Plan Bs are exactly what Rainy Day Portland provides.
Before stumbling across Rainy Day Portland I was unfamiliar with the Kennedy School (which goes to show that as small as Portland may seem, three years is not nearly long enough to explore the city), but now it’s first on my go-to list the next time I have family in town.
The Kennedy School is a former elementary school converted into a cool Northeast hangout spot (multiple reviews used the word “groovy”) that contains a hotel, restaurant, brewery, movie theatre, soaking pool, and more. Some attractions, such as the brewery, and late night movie showings are 21+, but the $3 afternoon matinee, soaking pool, and ambiance can be enjoyed without alcohol.
