Hi Reed,
My name is Mara, and I’ll be writing blog posts through Summer 2k15 and into the next school year! I’m going to be a Senior biology major, which is a daunting thing to be able to say out loud. I’ve been an HA for a year and a summer, and look forward to being in the Grove next year.
Snowball fights on the way to class! I’m from south-bay CA, so the first “snowpocalypse” in 2014 at Reed was bewildering.
I enjoy the finer things in life: Firefly marathons, petting neighborhood cats, playing Borderlands and League of Legends, and hiking in the Gorge. There are many pieces of advice I’d give new students, but the one piece I want to share most is don’t take the Reed Canyon for granted. It’s so easy to be set on auto-pilot: roll out of bed, grab coffee and bagel, trundle to class, sit down in class and gradually wake up…
Walking through the Canyon can energize your whole day 
In my time at Reed, I’ve joined the lovely team of House Advisors, I’ve been a member of the Herodotones and Antigonotes (the a Capella choir!), I’ve performed in a rock band at Renn Fayre, I’ve made valuable mistakes, and I’ve met the most lovely people that I am honored every day to call my friends.
