Bragdon and Random House Berry/Beach Love at Sauvie Island

Kicking off September and the new Reed year, Bragdon and Random House tag-teamed a road trip to Sauvie Island. With the sun shining, the radio turned up and windows down on our drive to the beautiful little island off the coast of the Columbia River, it looked like a day to remember – and so it was!
After getting sufficiently lost on the island (one van found itself in the state of Washington, at one point), our caravan eventually found it’s way to Colombia Farms picking blueberries, tomatoes and flowers. We probably averaged three blueberries eaten and one thrown at a friend for each one “picked” – score! Our rendezvous on the farm wrapped up with a cute picnic under a gazebo outside.
Our second stop on our Sauvie’s Island Road Trip Extravaganza was at the public Walton Beach off the Columbia. There, we met up with another group of Reedies and spent an hour swimming, suntanning and buying ice cream off an ice cream boat playing “Under the Sea” (best idea ever, right?).
By the time we left for Reed, everyone was sufficiently berry’d, sandy-clothed, sun-warmed and giddy. It was the perfect day to sing Nicki karaoke and “go to the beach-each/let’s go get away”. Love Reed!
