Pumpkin Activity #3

Now it’s finally actually October so pumpkins are totally reasonable to talk about, right? Right.

Here’s a cute idea for a little floor get-together or dinner with your housemate: pumpkin bowls!

Get as many small pie pumpkins as you will need for bowls and wash and dry them. Preheat the oven to 350. Cut the tops off the pumpkins and hollow them out. Place the bowls and “lids” on a baking dish and cover them with foil. Roast them in the over for 40-50 minutes or until soft. Fill them with soup and enjoy!

Soup ideas by order of laziness:

Lazy: Get soup from commons. Pour into pumpkin.

Kind of lazy: Walk to Trader Joe’s and get their pumpkin soup. Make it. Pour into pumpkin.

Not very lazy: Finely chop an onion and sautee it in about 1tbsp butter, margerine, or oil. Mix in a 16oz can of pumpkin puree, 1 1/3 cup of vegetable broth, 3 cups of milk (soy milk), a dash of nutmeg, and a dash of sugar. Pour into pumpkin.

All the energy/motivation: Start by growing your own pumpkins. Then follow Martha Stewart. Pour into pumpkin.
