New digital collections platform coming May 20th

Big changes coming to Reed Digital Collections (RDC)! We have been hard at work migrating our collections to the new platform and are excited to share it with the Reed community on May 20th, 2026.

Moving our collections to the new platform enables us to focus on managing digital collections that offer the ability for teaching, collaboration, and more. We expect the new system to have improved stability, meaning fewer outages. We are also excited for the powerful search features, accessibility improvements, and digital preservation support for theses and other irreplaceable digital materials.

RDC supports teaching and learning at Reed College by providing access to high-resolution licensed images for in classroom use, primarily used in Art History and Humanities 110 courses; digitized Special Collections and Archives material, including the Quest archives, historical photographs and documents, and more; the digital repository for senior and MALS theses, the Reed College Etheses Collection; and some course-specific collections developed by faculty.

For faculty, staff, and current students, your galleries, now called baskets, will transfer to the new platform automatically (Alumni galleries will not migrate). Library staff will be reaching out to faculty who we know use RDC frequently, and are also happy to do demos before May on request.
