Collection Development Librarian position

Employment Opportunity – Collection Development Librarian

A full-time, regular position, reporting to the Director of Reference and Instruction. Oversees acquisition and management of collections for instructional and research use. Contributes to collection initiatives of regional consortium. Supervises the gift program. Manages collection and analysis of library statistics. Participates in library reference (including some night and weekend shifts), instruction, and academic department liaison activities. Contributes to the creation, maintenance and evaluation of web content and services. We seek energetic candidates who welcome the chance to support library services in an intensely academic community. Minimum qualifications include the MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library school and three years of professional library experience. Knowledge of integrated library systems, experience working with acquisitions and collection management in an academic library, and a strong interest in liberal arts education are required. Supervisory experience would be desirable. Starting salary is $49,000.

New Version of EndNote & Date Issues with Version X2

Version X3 of EndNote is available for download from downloads.reed.edu.

Current X2 users may find that items with a publication date of 2010 or later will not import the year data. When this occurs, the year must be added manually (see Support FAQs  for more details).

Both EndNote X3 and EndNote Web import the publication date correctly. The easiest solution is to upgrade to EndNote X3. If a user can not upgrade for whatever reason, an updated fix for X2 can be downloaded from:
http://www.endnote.com/support/ENX201_WinMac_updater.asp.

Eddings exhibit

DAVID EDDINGS:  Creator of Fantasy Worlds
David Eddings ’54 presented his papers to Reed in early 2009.  Upon his death several months later, his bequest of $18 million dollars also came to Reed. Eddings’ immense popularity as a fantasy writer was earned by the 24 fantasy titles published between 1982 and 2006, and his many thousands of fans are found worldwide.  Selections from his papers are on display along with every book he published.  The exhibit is in the library’s flat exhibit cases and the reference area wall case.Eddings54grad
