Better safe than sorry, protect your valuables
Incidents of theft tend to increase during Fall and Spring Breaks. Do not leave valuables unattended. If you would like to rent a library locker, ask at the circulation desk.
Find plays: new online resource
Locate plays based on author, title, subject matter, genre or cast requirements using the library’s new online resource, Play Index. You can also read about more ways to find plays on our Theatre Research Guide.
Library haiku art installation!
Come visit the RAW haiku installation in the library, and add your own library haiku. Located on the main level by the entrance to the south reference room.
March IMC feature: Theremin
The theremin – one of the most interesting and difficult instruments to play. Â Even more interesting is the story behind it. Â Take a look. Â Or better yet, come down to the IMC and play the theremin M-F, 9a-5p in the music listening room.
Try out potential new chairs for the library
The library is considering getting new chairs for library desks and computers, and we want your opinion. Come try out the new chairs in the reading room/new pit, and tell us what you think! The test chairs are at the table closest to the staircase.
New Version of EndNote & Date Issues with Version X2
Version X3 of EndNote is available for download from downloads.reed.edu.
Current X2 users may find that items with a publication date of 2010 or later will not import the year data. When this occurs, the year must be added manually (see Support FAQs  for more details).
Both EndNote X3 and EndNote Web import the publication date correctly. The easiest solution is to upgrade to EndNote X3. If a user can not upgrade for whatever reason, an updated fix for X2 can be downloaded from:
http://www.endnote.com/support/ENX201_WinMac_updater.asp.

Eddings exhibit
January 5 – April 20, 2010
DAVID EDDINGS:Â Creator of Fantasy Worlds
David Eddings ’54 presented his papers to Reed in early 2009. Upon his death several months later, his bequest of $18 million dollars also came to Reed. Eddings’ immense popularity as a fantasy writer was earned by the 24 fantasy titles published between 1982 and 2006, and his many thousands of fans are found worldwide. Selections from his papers are on display along with every book he published. The exhibit is in the library’s flat exhibit cases and the reference area wall case.
New LexisNexis interface
LexisNexis Academic is releasing an update to their interface and search forms in mid-January. You can test drive the new interface now. If you’d like to read about the changes here, visit the LexisNexis wiki.
