Reedfayre ’12: call for Alumni College proposals

A message from Larry Abramson ’80:

As a member of Reed’s alumni board, I have been working with several of my colleagues in planning for Reedfayre ’12 (Reunions), which will take place from Wednesday, May 30 through Sunday, June 3. Following on the successful reformatting of Alumni College (AC) inaugurated at Centennial Reunions last year, our committee is actively planning to develop an attractive AC curriculum to offer at this year’s Reedfayre.

The purpose of my reaching out to you today is to ask for your assistance in identifying potential speakers/discussion leaders who would be interested in presenting a topic that they have a passion for and believe would attract participants. While it is easy to identify lots of potential topics, what we need are people willing to do the work to make it happen. Thus, our focus is on identifying champions willing to develop and present 60-90 minute AC “courses” for the Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday afternoon sessions.

As Reedfayre will be upon us sooner than we think, we would very much appreciate it if you would be willing to:

–Be a presenter yourself of a topic; and/or,

–Provide us with contact information of an individual(s) that might be interested in being a presenter.

If you can help, please directly contact our AC “Dean,” Jim Kahan ’64 at jimkahan@alumni.reed.edu, with a copy to me at labramson1@me.com. In the email, please write a sentence or two describing the course/discussion/presentation. Also, please note that the course should be structured such that pre-reading is optional and no materials are required.

Thank you for your time and ideas. Know that your support here will greatly contribute to another successful Alumni College!

Thank you,

Larry
