Imagine an event that is curious combination of:
-Grandpa’s turning 100!
-It’s our parents’ golden anniversary
-A fun family reunion
-Burning Man
-Oregon Country Fair
-Renn Fayre (but ever so slightly more restrained)
Well, it is that sort of eclectic inspiration that is merging to create Reed's Centennial Reunions. From June 6 to 12 of next summer, we are pulling out all the stops, putting the pedal to the metal, and creating a reunion that really will "go to eleven." Cliches and pop culture references aside, it will be an occasion to plan around and attend. Lots of folks are blocking out the dates and planning to attend. You should too. (Send your friends an ecard of this photo to reinforce it!)
The plans really are impressive: there will be music, including stuff that resonates with all (folk, rock, alt, etc); food inspired by Reedies (James Beard ’24, Steven Raichlen ’75); activities ranging from calligraphy demonstrations to a juggling extravaganza. As the word gets out, there will be more as well.
Know what is even better? If you register by March 1, 2011, staying in the dorms is FREE. The schedule will be online as soon as we can, but for the foreseeable future, we will be posting updates here (when our fancy-schmancy website is live, you will be enticed to go there as well). Stay tuned…
