Motya is an island off the west of Sicily, once settled by the Phoenicians, and now the best site in Sicily for studying Phoenician culture. Like all major Phoenician towns in the central Mediterranean, it boasts a tophet, where at least some child sacrifice took place (though also a lot of animal sacrifice, and probably more cremations of stillborn babies and young children who died of natural causes):
